“People with a learning disability should be able to live their life in a way that is right for them. They should be able to choose things, like where they live and what they do each day. Getting the right care and support can help people do this.”
Care and support can be lots of things, like support to:
Make friends or have relationships
Do things in your local area
I experience high quality care and support that is right for me.
Amber Rose Healthcare will ensure that the people using our service experience high-quality care by their assuring us that they are being accepted and valued as individuals, well protected from harm by our safe working practices and always treated with dignity and respect. They will say that we do this by always listening to them, fully involving them in all aspects of their care and support and positively supporting them to do the things that they want to do at home or in the community. They will assure us that they are always treated as an expert in their own experiences, needs and wishes.
I am fully involved in all decisions about my care and support.
Amber Rose Healthcare will ensure that the people using our services will assure us that they are empowered to be as independent as they can and want to be and are clear about how they can raise any concerns or complain about any aspect of our care and support. They will assure us that we have engaged them by always communicating in ways and with tools that they use themselves because of their disabilities or impairments. We will always train our staff to make effective use of the relevant communication tools. We will take a positive approach to the taking of risks by the people using our service and work with them to develop any plan needed to manage risks so that the benefits of taking them always outweigh the costs, and by taking them they contribute to their wellbeing. We will also ensure that people without mental capacity to make informed decisions and choices receive all the necessary support to decide what is the right thing for them.
I have confidence in the people who support and care for me
Amber Rose Healthcare aims to develop a pool of staff with the qualities and abilities to meet the wide range of needs from within the community that we anticipate will require our services. This will require us to pay close attention to staff recruitment practices based on equality, diversity and inclusion values and principles. We aim to match as closely as possible the right staff to the people receiving our care and support in terms of their abilities to form positive relations with them as individual to individual. With rigorous needs assessments and constructive partnership working with service commissioners and funders we will ensure as fully as possible that we provide the correct level of service required by the individual.
I have confidence in the organisation providing my care and support
Amber Rose Healthcare will show that the people using our services have confidence in us by our rigorous approach to involving them fully in care and support, an important aspect of which will be obtaining their opinions and views about what we are doing to support them to achieve their personal goals and how we are going about it. We aim to train our staff to continuously check with the people receiving care and support that they are satisfied with it as they are experiencing it. We will also be conducting regular surveys using professional tools to obtain feedback from everyone who is contributing to people’s wellbeing. Because Amber Rose Healthcare will always take a rights-based approach to all of its activities we will ensure that no one is left without a voice and everyone can be assured of the importance of their being able to speak up about our service at any time.
